The life before me

[ABOUT]

The Life Before Me is an experimental and personal zine where I explore, through photos and short texts, the past of my parents and the life they lived before I was born. The goal of the project was to reflect on the past in an attempt to understand what came before me — to see the "full picture" of a life I never knew. It’s also a tribute to my family and the simplicity of the past.

All the photos in this zine are from my family's personal archives — from 3x4 ID photos my maternal grandma kept of relatives and acquaintances to moments and trips my parents experienced after they met.

Most of the photos have not been altered (only a few had a subtle black-and-white filter applied) to preserve the magic of analog photography and the nostalgic feeling they bring.
